In today’s era, we are heading more and more toward what is called a “gig economy”. Corporate life and working a nine-to-five job behind four walls are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Routine work is slowly getting replaced with crowdsourcing, which means work getting divided among many people so that they can all do it efficiently and in small bits.
With companies needing more data collection for development of AI and market research, crowdsourcing platforms such as Gigwalk have become really famous.
What is Gigwalk and what jobs can I do over there?
Gigwalk is a crowdsourcing platform based on the digital “gig economy,” which revolutionizes the way people work, by ensuring collaboration over competition.
Instead of giving a big task to an individual, a lot of companies and marketing firms often make a group of people to do it. This is often called crowdsourcing of work. This allows flexibility for workers.
Gigwalk has a lot of tasks like mystery shopping, testing websites and completing questionnaires about them, and so on. Gigwalk has both a website and an app. It’s recommended that you use the app since it’s more functional.
How do I get started working on Gigwalk?
Signing up on Gigwalk is pretty simple. It can only be done using their mobile app.
- Get started by downloading the Gigwalk app (AppStore | PlayStore).
- You would need to sign up for an account, so click on “sign up as a gigworker.”
- After that, you would be asked your email address to send a confirmation email. Click on “Accept invite.”
- Finally, you would need to set up a password and enter your full name. Done!
Working on Tasks in GigWalk (How to Earn?)
You’re now officially a Gigwalker, and you need to give permission to the Gigwalk app to access your location. Based on your location, you’ll see small tasks to do if available.
These tasks may include visiting a particular store, buying a product, shooting a video of yourself at a particular place, etc. All tasks are listed along with their pay.
When you see a task that you can do, click on that task and apply. You’ll see a list of instructions telling you what to do, when to do and how to do the gig. Read those instructions carefully. If you fail to follow the instructions word-to-word, your submissions may be rejected and you won’t be paid.
For each gig, there’s a form or picture or any other kind of digital file that needs to be submitted. This is the actual data that you’re getting paid for. When you’ve uploaded your data, click “Submit.”
One thing to note, however, is that you won’t get paid immediately. After you’ve submitted your work, it will be reviewed by the client. Once approved by the client, you get your money. The review process takes 1-2 weeks to complete.
You don’t need to worry much about the review process though, because the clients usually don’t make a mess. If you have followed the instructions properly and delivered exactly what was asked for, your work will get approved.
How to get More Tasks and Higher Paying Gigs on GigWalk?
Your earnings at first may not be impressive, but they will increase overtime. Your performance on the platform will be assessed based on the number of tasks you complete, the proportion of those tasks that get accepted and your general response time.
If you do good, your score will increase and you will get access to more tasks and more complex, but higher paying gigs.
There are private groups of Gigwalkers appointed by clients too. If you impress a particular client with good quality work and regular submissions, you might get admitted to one of these private groups. One major benefit that you get from such a private group is that you get regular tasks from the client. The second is that you get extra tasks that are only available to members of that private group.
How much can I earn and when do I get paid?
Payments are made via PayPal. There’s a maximum time limit of 14 days for your client to review your work and pay you. If that doesn’t happen, you’ll get your payment automatically.
Payment may vary from as low as $20 to as high as $500, depending on the type of tasks you do and the number of tasks you complete in a month. However, this platform is not meant to be a replacement for a job, and is just for earning some extra side-money, often called beermoney.
Caveats of earning money with GigWalk
Gigwalk is highly location-based. You may get a lot of gigs everyday if you’re in a big city in the U.S., however, you might not get many gigs in smaller towns and villages. You need to download Gigwalk and see for yourself if it works for your location. In certain locations and in certain countries, you may not get any gigs at all.
Gigwalk supports only PayPal, so you can only use it in countries which support PayPal. You need to have a verified PayPal account and would need to link your PayPal address with your Gigwalk account if you wish to be paid.
Gigwalk Payment Proof
Gigwalk is definitely a legit opportunity, as you can find several payment proofs of it floating around online. This one that I found is a little old, but I bet things haven’t changed much since. I would definitely recommend giving it a try and see if it has jobs for your country.
